Curaçao To Organise SiGMA Curaçao Summit 2023
The Curaçao Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania, will organise his own gambling event in Curaçao in collaboration with SiGMA. The conference and expo is planned from 25 to 27 September 2023. In addition, the Curaçao Invitational Poker of the World Poker Tour will be held on 25 September.
This announcement was made by the minister at a seminar on the Carribean island. The minister opened the seminar with a speech. The minister also addressed the upcoming introduction of the new gambling law in the country, expected for September as well.

SiGMA Curaçao Summit 2023
Silvania also shared details about his own gambling event in Curaçao. In collaboration with event organiser SiGMA, interested parties are invited to travel to Curaçao from September 25 to 27 2023 for the event called ‘SiGMA Curaçao Summit 2023’. The conference and expo is organised to “connect international parties and local entrepreneurs.”
For residents of Curaçao, the conference and expo is labelled as the perfect opportunity to ‘jump into the international gambling market’. Silvania underlines that the current industry is worth NZ$ 215 million. Once the gambling reform has been completed, gambling companies that apply for a licence from the Gaming Control Board are required to have a physical representation in Curaçao, which should provide more employment on the island. The event in Curaçao will be SiGMA’s first event in the Caribbean, the minister said:
“SiGMA is a world-renowned event organiser with events in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The “Minister of Finance in association with SiGMA” is their first Caribbean event and it is with the utmost pride that we are partnering with such a renowned organiser for what will undoubtedly be an extraordinary event.”

The event is sponsored by Ecorpp Management, EM Group, Girasol, impaya, and paybrokers. Those companies will also have a stand at the gambling conference together with the companies C.CL and Xnext. Sigma ADR and the Ministry of Finance itself are also listed as sponsors of the summit. Tickets at NZ$ 94 or NZ$ 274 and are sold online. The event is free for affiliates. The SiGMA Curaçao Summit 2023 will be held at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort. In addition to Javier Silvania, Aideen Shortt, the CEO of Lilywhite Consulting, has been confirmed as a speaker. Prior to starting her own consultancy firm, Shortt was active as an Online Marketing Manager at Flutter UK & Ireland and later filled in the role of Marketing Director at Flutter’s Sky Betting & Gaming brand.

WPT Poker in Curaçao
Coinciding with the first day of the SiGMA Curaçao Summit 2023, the World Poker Tour will also be coming to the island. The Curaçao Invitational Poker tournament will be held on Monday, September 25. Players can qualify for the poker tournament through online satellites and through qualifiers in Curaçao’s own poker room, among other things.

In addition, this tournament will be an opportunity for our local community to participate and witness the thrills first hand. Announcements About New Gambling Law
During the seminar, Saleh shared the first details of the National Ordinance on Games of Chance, the new gambling law in Curaçao. Silvania stated that little is going to change for the sublicensees in the first months after the introduction of the LOK. The sub licences are issued by private companies which is one of the most controversial points of the current licensing system. Moving away from this system was one of the main reasons to reorganise the gambling law in the country. The new gambling law is expected to come into effect in September which coincides with the poker tournament and gambling event.
