Married Couple in Australia Win $1 Million Jackpot Twice
A married couple from a suburb of Wollongong in Australia won the same jackpot twice in one day. The man bought an extra ticket with the numbers, which he and his wife have been playing with in the weekly Lotto in Australia for almost 30 years.
With their winning numbers, they won the main prize of AU$1,000,000 (NZ$1,056,822). However, the lucky man’s million dollar win began on an angry note. “It’s actually a hilarious story as to why we ended up with the same entry twice,” the winner revealed.
The Australian husband said his wife was angry with him because he had forgotten to submit the ticket numbers chosen by her last week. To make up for the mistake the man decided to “put them on twice” and bought two lotto tickets from two different news stands in Dapto. He used the same numbers which have been used by his wife for nearly three decades.

Last week, an Australian man from Dapto forgot to buy a ticket for the Monday Lotto, the lottery he has been participating in with his wife for almost 30 years. The man had an argument with his wife, but to his relief, the jackpot did not fall on their numbers. The following week, he secretly decided to buy an extra ticket to make it up to his wife. This time to his own surprise, that decision earned him an additional AU$1,000,000 (NZ$1,074,687.29), as his wife’s numbers matched exactly in the draw on Monday, 13th March 2023:

When they checked the numbers on Tuesday morning, his wife was overjoyed, thinking they had just won AU$1,000,000. In reality, it turned out to be double the amount because her husband had bought an extra ticket.

Double Jackpot for Married Couple
Thanks to the man buying an extra ticket as a way to make up for his error, the married couple won a double jackpot of two one-million Australian dollar prizes. On the lottery’s website, he gave the following declaration about the win:
“It’s actually a funny story why we had the same numbers twice. I forgot to include my wife’s numbers last week, and she wasn’t too happy with me. So, I thought of using those lucky numbers twice this week to make it up to her.”

On Tuesday morning after the draw, the woman crossed off one number after another on her ticket. At that moment, the man still had to tell her about the second identical ticket. He couldn’t believe it had happened. The woman also reacted with great enthusiasm to winning the double jackpot:
